“Once upon a time, there was a lovely little house where my great-grandmother was born, the daughter of the caretakers of Quinta de Freixieiro, who was raised by the ladies of the ‘big house.’ After acquiring the Quinta, we reconstructed the little house where Xico, the eldest son of a family that has been with us for 40 years, moved in after getting married. The ‘brave one,’ in every sense, created his family here, brought his dreams to life, and contributed to this estate.

Day or night, Sundays or holidays, you would hear: ‘Oh, Xico!’ and there he would come to assist whoever needed it. His new dreams took him away from here (but not too far), and it was impossible for this house to have any other name than Casa do Xico!” – Isabel Faria
With a history rooted in a traditional Minho farming house where its people were devoted to agriculture and grape harvesting, enduring milestones in its history and story, Casa do Xico has transformed into a welcoming home for all who visit northern Portugal.

Throughout the decoration, you’ll find memories from bygone eras adapted to the present and today.

In our commitment to sustainability, we have implemented several practices and measures to ensure that your stay at Casa do Xico is not only comfortable, but also eco-friendly. We have implemented the following actions we take to minimize our environmental impact:

Waste Management

Conscious Recycling: We provide rubbish bins for recycling, encouraging customers to separate and recycle waste.

Ecological products: Cleaning at Casa do Xico is carried out using ecological products.

Local market

Local Origin: Guests have access to our organic garden so they can enjoy local and natural products. We also promote local commerce and recommend street commerce.

Efficiency in Water Consumption

Water conservation: To reduce environmental impact, we implemented the initiative to reuse sheets and towels. By encouraging our guests to use these items for longer, we significantly contribute to water conservation, as excessive washing is one of the main sources of water consumption in hotels.

Sustainable energy

Eco-Friendly Lighting: Most of the lighting in Casa do Xico is provided by LED lamps, contributing to a smaller carbon footprint and greater energy efficiency.
